Târgoviște archbishop met with Serbian ambassador to Romania

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Romania, Stefan Tomašević, met with Metropolitan Nifon, Archbishop of Târgoviște and patriarchal exarch, on Monday, April 10, 2023.

During the dialogue, which took place in a cordial environment at the archdiocesan residence, the excellent relations between the two sister Orthodox Churches and neighbouring peoples were recalled.

Such figures as Hieromonk Makarije and Dimitrije Ljubavić from Romanian and Serbian history and spirituality connected to Targoviște – the first Wallachian printing centre contributing to the deepening of collaboration – were invoked.

The need to intensify spiritual and cultural cooperation was affirmed, and the respective roles of the Romanian community in Serbia and the Serbian community in Romania were also mentioned.

The meeting was also attended by Father Ionuţ Ghibanu, Diocesan Vicar, Father Marian Puiescu, Diocesan Councillor, and Verica Plemi, cultural attaché of the Embassy of Serbia in Romania.
