Hungarian FM Urges Fast Accession of Balkan Countries to EU

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto urged Wednesday a rapid accession of the Western Balkan countries to the European Union (EU), local television reported.

The Western Balkan countries should be admitted to the EU now and not in 2030, the Hungarian foreign minister stated in a speech at the Strategic Forum in Bled, Slovenia.

In his opinion, the new countries would significantly strengthen the Union’s economic potential energy security.

Earlier, European Council President Charles Michel wanted the EU to be ready for enlargement by 2030.
